In what may be the most competitive eliminations in the history of Western Fair Raceway's Molson Pace, a record total of 22 of North America's top Free For All pacers have been entered to contest the elims
for the track's signature event Friday, May 21 in London, Ont.
The record 22 entries are headlined by Bigtime Ball, who will make his first lifetime appearance at the London half-miler during the elims. Bigtime Ball has drawn Post 6 the second of three $20,000 elims, which have been carded as Races 8 (9:11 p.m.), 9 (9:29 p.m.) and 10 (9:47 p.m.).
The top two finishers in each elim will qualify for the $225,000 (added) final, which is to be contested Friday, May 28. Two third-place finishers, drawn by lot, will also advance to the final.
Bigtime Ball, the 2009 O’Brien Award winner as Canada’s Older Pacer of the Year, will head into the elims with three wins and a second-place finish in four starts so far this season, all of which have come at Woodbine Racetrack in the form of Open Paces.
Owned and trained by Gord Irwin of Cobourg, Ont., Bigtime Ball is a six-year-old son of Presidential Ball that has earned $1,174,673 in career earnings to date.
The third elim will feature Foiled Again from Post 2. The six-year-old Dragon Again gelding comes into the Molson Pace fresh from a victory in the $460,000 final of the George M. Levy Series which took place at Yonkers Raceway on May 1. Foiled Again has won $1.4 million lifetime for trainer Ron Burke and owners Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi and JJK Stables of Pennsylvania and Florida.

Not sure exactly who the
Not sure exactly who the "Toronto Boys" are ? Looks like there are horses in from NY, NJ, PA and all over ON to me ! Good job WFR...I for one am looking forward to seeing all of these top-notch Open pacers compete at a small Ontario track...well done !
Why dont the powers that be
Why dont the powers that be at Western Fair restrict the Molson Pace to horses that compete regularly at the local track? Wouldn't it make more sense to make the big bucks available to the horsemen that race here on a regular basis as opposed to just handing the money to the Toronto boys year after year?
