Some of the stars of the Atlantic Sires Stakes program strutted their stuff at Fredericton Raceway

, as the half-mile oval rolled out the red carpet for three-year-old pacing fillies.

Southview Spirit won the first of two $13,280 “A” divisions in a time of 1:59.4 for driver Walter Cheverie and trainer Charles McGee. Cheverie rolled the Western Paradise filly through panels of :29.3, 1:00.2 and 1:30.2 before finishing off the competition with a final quarter clocked in :29.2. P H Quick Chick was second and R Es Mary finished third.

The filly’s breeder, Elwood Lawton, shares ownership on the six-time winner with Arleen Harris of Cornwall, PE. It was the first start of the season for the homebred, who went 5-for-8 in her rookie campaign. She has banked $41,522 to date.

Shadow Dancer turned a pocket trip into a narrow victory in the second division for the tandem of trainer Doug Hill and driver Kenny Arsenault. The Western Paradise miss drafted behind One Fifty West through fractions of :30.2, 1:01.3 and 1:31.1 before rallying past that foe for the 2:00.2 decision. One Fifty West was a quarter of a length back in second, with Woodmere Humdinger another five lengths back in third.

Owned by PEI partners Doug and Jamie Hill, Shadow Dancer won for the first time this season and for the second time in her career. The lion’s share of today’s purse boosted her bankroll to $22,341.

In the lone $2,500 “B” division, Brookie Neighneigh celebrated a maiden-breaking victory in a time of 2:03 for the duo of driver Walter Cheverie and trainer Patrick Eastwood, who also owns and bred the daughter of Drop Off. She laid down splits of :31.2, 1:02.1 and 1:32.2 before cruising home in :30.3 to seal the deal over Rebecca Down and Cloverhills Dot.
