Turn On The Charm scored her third win in her last four starts as she took the featured $21,918 Fillies and Mares Open Handicap Pace at Tioga Downs on Saturday, May 16.
Driven by James Kennedy, Turn On The Charm grabbed the lead just before hitting the quarter in :27. Fashion Terror (Ridge Warren) came first-up to challenge going around the clubhouse turn and raced alongside the leader through the half in :56.3 and three-quarters in 1:24.2. Turn On The Charm pulled away as they came down the stretch, and she resisted the late bid of Fashion Terror to win by a half-length in 1:53.2. Alta Madeira N (Mike Merton) finished third.
Turn On The Charm is now 21-for-61 lifetime after her first win at Tioga since an Excelsior Series event in 2022. Bruce Clarke trains the six-year-old Huntsville-Charming Hill mare for B Clarke Racing LLC, Patricia Waldeck John Coffey. The win payout was $4.04.
Mike Merton, Ridge Warren and Ron Cushing had driving doubles on the eight-race program. Trainer McKenzie Sowers sent out two winners.
Tioga Downs hosts its next card on Sunday with a 12-race slate starting at 12:30 p.m.
