Tempo Seelster, under the command of owner Vince Poulton, won the Saturday feature in 1:59.2 at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Poulton sent Tempo Seelster to the front and cruised through fractions of :29.4, 1:01 and 1:30.3 before storming home with a :28.4 closing panel to hold off a fast-charging Van Zant (Ron Matheson) by a nose with Blue Star Outlaw (Jason Hughes) finishing third. Broadcaster Peter MacPhee nailed the winning triactor in the pre-race set-up with the 3-1-2 combination paying out at $93.80.
The fastest mile of the night went to Camcun, who stopped the timer in a sparkling 1:57 flat for driver/trainer Kenny Arsenault and his co-owner Dan Belliveau of Halifax, N.S.
Abundaspin extended his winning streak to three for driver Harold Shepherd and owner Mikaela Lustic of Cornwall, P.E.I. Shepherd put the 14-year-old trotter on the point and out-sprinted the field in the 2:01.3 mile. Kan Wire (Marc Campbell) and Caliban Hanover (Ron Gass) completed the top three.
Neal made his return to the racetrack with an impressive win in the second trot class. The trotting star, driven by trainer Ron Gass, blasted from the back of the pack early to take over the pulse of the race to deliver the victory in race three. Bill Andrew of Calgary, Alta. owns the son of Credit Winner.
Mark Bradley and Jason Hughes recorded driving doubles on the program.
