Absolution, one of just two mares to defeat the near-perfect Lets N Joy N, did it again in the $40,000 Fillies & Mares Open Pace at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Friday, May 15.

Driver Trevor Henry worked out a perfect pocket trip for Absolution, tracking 1-5 bettors' choice Lets N Joy N and James MacDonald through panels of :27.1, :56.2 and 1:24.3 before closing gamely at the pylons to collar her rival in 1:51.1. Talk Curdy To Me, driven by Louis-Philippe Roy, finished two lengths behind in third after offering up a first-over challenge turning for home.

Trained by Jack Moiseyev, Absolution earned the second win of her five-year-old campaign and paid $11.30 as the 9-2 second choice following back-to-back runner-up finishes behind the heavy favourite Lets N Joy N, who has only been beaten thrice since arriving in Canada and previously by Absolution on March 20.

The winning homebred Mcwicked-Bet Ya mare, who has hit the board in a dozen Open starts this year earning $109,000, is owned by Joanne Colville of Moffat, Ont., and Nancy MacNevin of Essex, Ont. Lifetime, she sports a record reading 13-14-13 from 53 starts and a bankroll of $329,560.

In Pop-Up Series action, 1-5 favourite Blinded By Delight and driver Tyler Borth held off Twin B Empress and Doug McNair in a late stretch battle for the series sweep, winning the $25,000 final in 1:51.1 for trainer Blair Burgess and owner/breeder Kenneth Seastrom of Wilton, California. This series was for female pacers than started for a purse of $12,000 or less in 2026 with winners over $50,000 in 2026 not eligible.
