A pair of conditioned trot races for fillies and mares, each carrying an $18,000 purse, served as the co-features for the Thursday, May 15 evening card at Woodbine Mohawk Park with Beersnsunshine Deo and Lily Lace winning their respective races.

Beersnsunshine Deo ($15.20) posted the faster of the two splits with Tyler Borth in the seat for trainer Susie Kerwood.

Drawing the outside in the field of nine, Beersnsunshine Deo made a beeline from the outer wings and towards the top. An early scuffle for the lead left Ibelieveinangels (Travis Cullen) with the lead spot, followed by Th Monica (Bob McClure) in second and a parked out Beersnsunshine Deo in third.

Buzzing through the :28.4 quarter, Beersnsunshine Deo kept on going to snag the lead and she maintained her reign through the half in :58.2 and three-quarters in 1:27.2. Without looking back, the Kerwood student just kept on rolling to win by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:56. Clarissa W (James MacDonald) took second and Ibelieveinangels grabbed the show spot.

Kerwood owns the sophomore daughter of Six Pack-Wish I Was There. Beersnsunshine Deo won her first race of the year and her second career race, lowering her previous mark of 1:57.1. In 13 starts, she has rounded up $80,342 in career earnings.

Lily Lace ($22.80) upset in the second fillies and mares conditioned trot with Travis Henry in the bike for trainer Mark Etsell.

Leaving the wings from center stage in the field of nine, Lily Lace darted from post five to the top, battling favoured D A Dream Girl (Jody Jamieson) for the lead. Lily Lace achieved pylon position first, but D A Dream Girl clipped the quarter-mile marker first from the outside in :28.1. D A Dream Girl settled on top along the pylon path and Lily Lace continued to track in second.

After the half in :58.4 and moving towards the three-quarters in 1:28.2, Lily Lace popped the pocket and aimed towards the top position again. The Etsell student prevailed and achieved the lead at the top of the stretch, surging home to score by a length in 1:56.2. P L Sapphire (Bob McClure) took second and Oceanview Rumours (James MacDonald) rounded out the triactor.

Etsell co-owns the sophomore daughter of Muscle Mass-Day Lily with John McKnight, Robert Newton and Peter Porter. Lily Lace notched her first win of the season and second career win, lowering her previous mark of 1:57.3. She now shows $25,900 banked in her young career of seven starts.
