Larry Ferrari took no prisoners and sent Go Go George down the road in progress to a 1:56.4 victory in the Great Lakes Amateur Drivers Association (GLADA) Trot on Saturday (May 15) at Northfield Park. It marked the second-consecutive week that Ferrari and Go Go George were victorious in the series.
After starting from the two-hole Ferrari kept Rockefella Lindy and driver Manny Miller on the limb which forced the favourite Quadrangle to go three-deep as the field headed for the three-quarters.
After Quadrangle looped Rockefella Lindy Go Go George opened two-and-a-half lengths on the field, and he needed every inch as his strides began to shorten when he neared the finish line. At the wire, Go Go George was a neck winner over Rockefella Lindy. Third place went to Crime Fighter, in rein to Eddie Miller.
Go Go George, a seven-year-old gelded son of Neely Dunn, is owned by Kiesha Ferrari and trained by his driver. Sent as the second favourite in the eight-horse field, Go Go George paid $7.20 for win.
