Ross Wolfenden’s Keystone Rhythm notched her first win of 2013 with a 1:53.2 victory in Tuesday’s $18,000 Mares Open Pace at Harrington Raceway.
The eight-year-old Camotion mare was making just her second start of the year, after being laid off since November. Driven by her trainer and owner Wolfenden, the 3-5 favourite Keystone Rhythm was sent for the lead from approaching the quarter mile from early leader Ash Larue in an opening quarter mile in :28. She then set fractions of :56.3 and 1:25 while Ash Larue was fatigued in the pocket and opened up several lengths on the field. Kissed By The Sun mounted her attack first-over and was second. Scarlet Pandemic finished third.
Keystone Rhythm paid $3.40.
Wolfenden and George Dennis each piloted three winners on the program.
