Johnny Waite’s Fissato notched his 21st career win Monday in the $18,000 Open Pace at Harrington Raceway in 1:53.1.
Trained by his owner, the eight-year-old Cambest gelding was hustled to the early lead by driver Victor Kirby before 1-to-5 favourite Main A Dieu Too assumed command approaching the quarter mile in :27.2. The fractions were modest from that point forward after a half mile in :57.1 and three-quarters in 1:25.4. Fissato then found room in the stretch and marched by the pacesetter for a narrow win. Main A Dieu Too was second while Mojo Terror charged home third.
Fissato paid $10.40.
Victor Kirby, Ross Wolfenden and Jim Morand each had driving doubles on the 11-race program.
