There was no stopping the combination of trainer Jamie Copley and driver Stephane Gendron on Thursday evening, as the dynamic duo turned in a four-win performance
at Rideau Carleton Raceway.
Copley, who leads all Rideau trainers in 2010 when it comes to wins and purse earnings, and Gendron, who ranks third among Rideau’s leading drivers, got the ball rolling in Race 3 with Genesis Showtime. The pacer drew off to win by six lengths in 1:57.2 for owner Michel Frenette of Portneuf, QC.
They also visited victory lane with Keith Cassell’s Lexus Hanover (1:57.3) in Race 5, Bob Gordon’s Elm Grove Dallas (1:56.1) in Race 9 and Brenda Lane’s Wally Dragon (1:56) in Race 11.
Copley is well on his way enjoying a career year for the second consecutive season when it comes to winning races and earnings purse money. His win total sits at 73 this season compared to the 85 winners he sent out last year, and his purse money is well over $370,000 this year compared to the $402,000 season he enjoyed in 2009.
Gendron has come very close to hitting $1 million in earnings in each of the last two seasons, and he recently surpassed $10 million in career earnings.
