Wide at the quarter, Euchred edged to command moving to the second circuit and remained in front under the wire to take the $2,500 Preferred Pace at Charlottetown Driving Park on Saturday, May 12 in 1:55.2.
The odds-on public choice parked through a :27.4 quarter by Adkins Hanover to the inside on the lead moving into the far turn first time. Driver Gilles Barrieau got Euchred to the cones heading to the half and led Adkins Hanover through a :57.2 half. Mr Irresistible, sitting third, pulled first over moving to the backstretch and matched strides with pocket-sitter Adkins Hanover while Euchred passed three quarters two-and-one-quarter lengths in front in 1:26.3. He finished with a one-and-one-half length margin at the line over Mr Irresistible, while Czar Seelster, from second over, closed for third.
A six-year-old gelding by Shadow Play out of the Camluck mare Tipsy Taters, Euchred, owned by Kayla Habicht Walker, won his fifth race in 12 starts this season and his 34th in 107 overall, earning $75,321. The Terry Gallant trainee paid $3.10 to win.
