Cowgirl Hall ended an uncharacteristically long drought when she captured Tuesday’s $18,000 Filly & Mare Winners Over $10,000 Life Handicap Trot at The Meadows.
Cowgirl Hall won 16 times in 2014, but she’d been without a victory in five starts since March 17, a stretch that included top fields in The Meadows Maturity and the Miami Valley Distaff. But she was sharp Monday, quarter-poling to the lead for Dave Palone and scoring in 1:54.3. Whata Donato was a length back in second, with the first-over Kandian Klub third.
Ron Burke trains Cowgirl Hall, a six-year-old daughter of Cash Hall-Centerfold Hall who now boasts $688,868 in career earnings, for Burke Racing Stable LLC, Weaver Bruscemi LLC, Jack Piatt III and Michael Rosenthal.
Palone piloted three winners on the 13-race card, lifting his career total to 16,999. He has 11 scheduled assignments Wednesday, when the program begins at 12:55 p.m.
