Charmed Life Cruises In Preferred

A scintillating performance earned Charmed Life a new lifetime mark in Monday’s $34,000 Preferred Trot at Woodbine Racetrack.

In rein to Jody Jamieson, Charmed Life got away next-to-last in the featured tilt while Slip Into Glide supplied the group with panels of :26.4, :55.3 and 1:23.4. Despite sitting last at the head of the lane, Charmed Life uncorked a :27-second closing panel to win by a length in 1:52.2 over Slip Into Glide. Rounding out the top three was Mego Moss.

Dave Menary trains the four-year-old daughter of Majestic Son-Christina M for Menary Racing Inc, Brad Gray and Michael Guerriero. The OSS graduate, who is now 2-for-3 this season, has banked just shy of $480,000 to date.

Monday’s card also saw a Pepsi North America Cup eligible Surprise Hanover break his maiden for the tandem of trainer James ‘Friday’ Dean and driver Sylvain Filion. The three-year-old son of Bettors Delight-Shady Past enjoyed a stalking trip before using a :27.3 closing quarter to win by a head in 1:52.4.

Darlene Carr of Dundas, Ontario owns the youngster who was a $70,000 purchase from the 2012 Harrisburg Yearling Sale. The colt has banked $33,459 to date.
