Driver Serge Masse and trainer Rod Therres teamed up to sweep the $75,000 British Columbia Sires Stakes Finals with sophomore pacers Allittleforplace and Why We Were Chosen during the final card of the Fraser Downs meet on Saturday evening.

Both winners are sired by Allamerican Cobalt and owned by Therres. Langley's Blair Miller also shares ownership of filly division winner Allittleforplace.

Insider starter Allittleforplace swept from third to first after the :28.4 opening panel and cruised through middle splits of :57.4 and 1:28 en route to a career-best 1:57.4 victory.

The even-money favourite held off pocket-sitter Yanotherhos and Brandon Campbell by half a length, returning $4.20 to her backers. Farside Baby and four-time Saturday winner Jim Marino closed well off cover to edge out 181-1 longshot Not Listed, driven by Michael Munoz, for third. Pureform Pandora and Scott Knight grabbed the final paycheque in fifth after a first over journey.

The lightly raced filly earned her second win in five career starts and boosted her bankroll to $43,205.

In the colt final, trailing tier starter Why We Were Chosen settled away third through early fractions of :28.1 and :57.3 while the John Abbott-driven One Last Shot and favourite Kootenay Positive, with J.F. Gagne aboard, traded turns on the lead. Masse sent the 5-2 second choice first over down the backstretch and cleared to command by the 1:26.3 third quarter mark en route to a 1:57.1 score.

Why We Were Chosen paid $7.10 to win. Red Star Pirate and Knight closed up the passing lane from mid-pack to place one and a quarter lengths behind over Kootenay Positive. Make Mine Five, the 69-1 longest shot on the board, rallied off eventual fifth-place finisher One Last Shot's cover to finish fourth for driver Brandon Campbell.

Unraced as a freshman, Why We Were Chosen is now three-for-four in his career with $44,230 banked in purses.

Live racing returns to Fraser Downs for its 2013/2014 meet on Thursday, August 15 with a special 5:30 p.m. post time.
