Hanover Shoe Farms today announced the birth of the first full brother to 2007 U.S. Horse of the Year and World Champion Donato Hanover
.
'Donato’s dam, D Train, foaled a bay colt by Andover Hall on Saturday, May 8 at 4:45 a.m. Both mare and foal are doing well.
“He’s a tall, correct colt that bears a striking resemblance to Donato as a foal except for a few white hairs on his forehead,” commented Hanover Shoe Farms Farm Manager Dr. Bridgette Jablonsky.
Big brother Donato Hanover was a national season’s leader at two, as he won eight of nine starts, including a 1:55 mile in the $465,000 Peter Haughton Memorial. He finished his freshman season with a victory in the $600,000 Breeders Crown.
At three, Donato led sophomore and all age trotters by money winnings with $2,352,190 earned in 13 starts, and trotted the fastest mile of 2007 in 1:50.1, a World Record for three-year-old trotters and equalling the all-age record, at Lexington, in the $356,160 final of the Kentucky Futurity, in which he was a straight-heat winner.
Never finishing worse than third in his career, Donato Hanover scored 19 straight lifetime victories including the Hambletonian, Canadian Trotting Classic, World Trotting Derby and Stanley Dancer Memorial.
D Train will be bred to 2009 Horse of the Year Muscle Hill in 2010.
