Following last Tuesday’s three-win performance at Kawartha Downs, trainer Rene Allard and driver Simon Allard joined forces to do it once again

.

The duo started their winning ways in the fifth race feature, the $12,000 Preferred #2 Pace with the eight-year-old Blissful Hall gelding, Blissed Out.

With Simon at the lines, Blissed Out made a quarter pole move and brushed to command ahead of Trouball (Reg Gassien). The even-money favourite turned back the first-over challenger, Lyons Jeff (Fred Brethour), by the half and then charged home to win in 1:52. Trouball finished second while longshot Spago Hall came on for show.

Rene trains and co-owns the winner of 32 races and over $590,000 with John Nother of Brampton, Ont. Since joining Rene’s barn at the beginning of March, the veteran gelding has recorded four wins in six starts. His fifth victory of the season lifted his 2009 bankroll to over $50,000.

Rene's pupils, Winbak Trojan (1:58.1) and Sharonas Dignity (1:55.2), were also victorious during the 11-race program with his older brother in the bike.

With 98 training victories to name and earnings totaling $738,221 so far in 2009, Rene, who sports a UDRS of 0.406, is on track for a career-best season. He is currently the leading trainer in Canada for wins and is tied for third in North America. The 22-year-old conditioner, who has recorded 490 wins in his career, has banked over $2.8 million in purses.

Simon is also on track for a career year having recorded 99 wins and $669,638 in earnings so far. His win total places him amongst the nation's top ten drivers. The 27-year-old reinsman has racked up 444 wins in his career with over $2.8 million in winnings.
