Who have harness racing's sharpest minds selected in the 2025 TROT Magazine Fantasy Stable? Trot Insider will feature 'expert picks' in advance of the deadline for this year's contest.
The winner of the 2024 Lew Barasch Breakthrough Award, Jacob Rheinheimer of Harrah's Hoosier Park has joined Standardbred Canada's panel of experts for 2025. Rheinheimer selected 2024 Maple Leaf Trot winner Periculum from a field of stars assembled in Group B.
"I like Periculum as an established horse in the Open trotting ranks, whereas a lot of the others in the group are making the transition from three to four or mares where you really have to run the table with less earning potential. I think Periculum takes a step forward and the older trotting ranks run through him."
A son of Muscle Hill - Amour Heiress, Periculum enters his six-year-old season with an 11-8-8 summary from 50 career starts and more than $1.5 million in earnings. Of those 11 victories, more than half came during his seven-figure 2024 campaign for trainer Marcus Melander and owners Brixton Medical Inc. and Holly Lane Stud East Ltd.
Rheinheimer's 2025 TROT Magazine Fantasy Stable selections are as follows:
Group A
