Exquisite Alberta was first off the gate and first to the wire, never relinquishing her lead in the $10,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred 2 Pace featured on Wednesday's harness racing program at Grand River Raceway

With Mark MacDonald in the bike, the seven-year-old mare by Albert Albert took command of the field from the inside post position and carved out panels of :27.4, :57.3 and 1:26.1. Got The Munchies (Billy Davis Jr.) applied first over pressure but could not touch the leading Wayne Preszcator pupil, who reached the wire in 1:55 flat. Got The Munchies had to settle for seccond one length behind while June The Third (Don Graham) came on for third, finishing nearly five lengths behind.
Exquisite Alberta paid $3.90 to win as the 4-5 bettor's choice. The win was her second in 16 seasonal starts and 17th lifetime pushing her bankroll to $146,293. Shawn Dixon of St. Thomas, Ont. owns the winning mare, who shaved four-fifths of a second off her lifetime mark.
