Four-year-old pacing gelding Sir Charles Of Sky topped the 58th annual Blooded Horse Spring Mixed Sale held on Tuesday, May 10 at the Champions Arena Expo in Springfield, Ohio.
Selling as Hip #72, Sir Charles Of Sky was purchased for $55,000 by Wallace Townsend of Georgetown, Delaware. Previously owned by Burke Racing Stable and Weaver Bruscemi, the Ohio-bred son of Charley Barley out of the Western Ideal mare Skyway Hanover is a 14-time winner from 57 starts with more than $150,000 earned. He was a winner of the Ohio Sire Stakes Consolation last year and took his mark of 1:50.4 at Scioto Downs.
Rounding out the top three highest priced horses were the four-year-old Rockin Image gelding Luc Rocks, also purchased from the Burke Racing Stable consignment, for $52,000 by Dean Collins of Washington, Pennsylvania and Emerald Highlands Farm's homebred four-year-old Always A Virgin mare Colorful Virgin, purchased for $48,000 by Brady Galliers of Defiance, Ohio.
