Pacing Mares Get It Done At Rosecroft

Rhapsody Rose and Rocket Rosy, veteran pacing mares trained by Brian Fisher, were dead game on the front end in their respective assignments at Rosecroft Raceway on Tuesday, May 9.

Rhapsody Rose scored a 1:52.3 win for Roger Plante. She held off a first-over charge from Corona Again and Junkyard Treasure, who finished second and third, respectively.

Rocket Rosy briefly saw Little Miss Woo Hoo get by her on the final turn before reclaiming the lead for Ricky Still and holding off a late charge by Real Passing Lady in 1:53.3. Both mares are owned by Twin Ponds Racing Stable.

Plante had an impressive score with three-year-old filly trotter Holy Trout. Plante ducked last year’s Maryland Sire Stakes two-year-old champion to the rail in the final turn after pressing on first over against soft fractions. The daughter of Holy Guacamolie eventually got past Powerful Madison for a lifetime best 1:57.4 mile for trainer Steve LeBlanc and owner Dr. William Solomon.

Still, Plante and Russell Foster each had three wins. Foster won an early non-betting MSS $25,600 event for four and five-year-old pacers with Toms Typhoon. Timmy Offut celebrated his birthday with two wins.

Live racing continues Wednesday night at 6:40.
