Buck I St Pat made it three in a row as she breezed to a 1:52.4 victory in the $25,000 first leg of the Miss Versatility Trotting Series
at the Meadowlands on Sunday afternoon.
The 2008 Dan Patch Award winner for Trotting Mare of the Year, who was sent off as the 1-2 favourite, brushed to the lead at the half and responded when asked by driver Tim Tetrick in the stretch to hold off Falls For You by more than two lengths. Stage Show held third.
Buck I St Pat has won three of four starts since returning from a tendon injury last July that kept her on the sidelines for nearly nine months. Lifetime, she is 34 for 60 with earnings in excess of $1 million.
Ron Burke trains the six-year-old daughter of Jailhouse Jesse, who will head to Sweden's Solvalla Racetrack later this month to compete in the prestigious Elitlopp. Ron Fuller, Howard Taylor, Edwin Gold and Abe Basen share ownership of the mare.
The Miss Versatility Series has subsequent legs at Tioga and Vernon Downs, and culminates in a $100,000 (est.) final at the Delaware, OH fairgrounds in September.
