Spender Hanover Takes Prospector Finale

Fresh off a win in his second leg division of the Prospector Claiming Series at Georgian Downs, Spender Hanover returned to the Innisfil oval on Saturday night to take the $42,000 final for Team Allard

.

The top nine money winners in the series for non-winners of $60,000 lifetime as of March 15, 2010, including four Rene Allard pupils, advanced to tonight’s final, in which driver Simon Allard sent Spender Hanover out from fifth and around the stalled Beechwood Tiger (Stephen Byron) to score by two lengths in a season's-best 1:53.2.

The Allard-trained Doeswhathepleases, also a winner in his second leg split, set the pace with fractions of :26.2, :55.1 and 1:23.3 in rein to Scott Zeron, but eventually faded to seventh.

Shark Watch (Anthony MacDonald) finished second off a pocket trip just ahead of the winner’s stablemate, Real Energy (Mike Langdon).

Spender Hanover, a four-year-old gelded son of Cams Card Shark-Special Beauty who returned $2.20 as part of the 1-9 favoured entry, was claimed by Rene Allard and Gilles Fleury of Mascouche, QC for $10,625 on March 25 at Rideau Carleton Raceway. He has since was three of his four starts and $32,050 for his new connections.
