A accident occurred during the ninth race at Fraser Downs on Friday night unseating multiple drivers

.

Prairiewynd Summer, driven by Warren Grant, made a break around the final turn from the pocket causing interference to the rest of the field, resulting in Grant, James Junquist and Scott Knight being unseated from their mounts.

Knight was up on his feet quickly grabbing hold of his horse, Gonnab Agoodknight, while Prairiewynd Summer and Taylor Win, driven by Jungquist, ran loose before being collared shortly after the incident. The horses all appeared to be fine.

Grant and Junquist were attended to by the on-track ambulance. Reports from Fraser Downs indicate that Grant suffered a bruised tail bone and will not be driving on Saturday's card. Jungquist told Trot Insider on Saturday morning that he sustained a broken wrist and will be getting a pin or screw put in. Further x-rays will take place on Thursday with casting to follow due to heavy road rash he sustained during the fall. Junquist also suffered a couple of broken knuckles.

Grant had suffered multiple serious injuries in an accident back in 2006 while Junquist had previously been sidelined for a few months after breaking his collar bone in an accident in 2009.

Please join Standardbred Canada in wishing the drivers involved a full and speedy recovery.
