The highly-regarded Parlay kept his undefeated streak intact with an effortless victory in Thursday’s single $20,000 division in the opening round of the Tie Silk Trotting Series
for three-year-olds at Woodbine Racetrack.
With regular pilot Jack Moiseyev at the helm, the son of Kadabra left alertly from post eight and tucked into third spot briefly as Yoho Kadabra led the field past the first split of :28.1. It wasn’t long before Parlay was on the move and taking over command just before the half in :58.3.
A confident Parlay then strolled past three-quarters in 1:28.2 and easily held his rivals at bay with a :29-second final quarter to score in 1:57.2. Mannerheim turned in a sharp rally to pick up the place spot with Long Island rounding out the top three.
Parlay, who was sent off as the 2-5 favourite, is now perfect in three career starts for trainer Ricky MacPhee who co-owns along with Harris O’Brien and Robby Wibawa of Ontario. The lion’s share of the purse boosted his earnings to just over $28,000.
The Tie Silk Trotting Series will continue with second-round action next Thursday night at Woodbine.
