Favourites Foiled In Weiss At Pocono

The Bobby Weiss Series continued Tuesday evening at Pocono Downs, and it wasn’t a good night for the favourites. All three of the public’s top choices failed to score in their third-leg assignments.

Millers Bird knocked off the odds-on choice, R Journey Together, in the first division. David Miller treated the Alexander Rice, Jr. trainee to a two-hole trip behind the favourite, and a :27.2 closing quarter helped Millers Bird rally past that foe for the win. R Journey Together held for second, with Southwind Illusion taking home third prize.

The four-year-old daughter of Mcardle-Bunting is owned by Delaware partners Michael Horn and Alexander Rice, Sr. It was the second win of the year for the career winner in excess of $30,000.

A And Gs Design also turned a two-hole trip into a win thanks to her 1:54.4 tally in the second division. Simon Allard manufactured the winning trip for the Rene Allard trainee, who upended heavily favoured Stucklikeglue by a neck. Fashion Fluzzy tagged along to finish third in the $15,000 affair.

It was the first win of the year for the four-year-old daughter of Allamerican Native-Colorado Creek, who is owned by Rene Allard and Katie Remmerswaal. She went over $50,000 in lifetime earnings in the process.

Prima Dragon rallied from just off-the-pace to secure a win in the final division for trainer Michael Dowdall and driver Brett Miller. Sent off at odds of 9-1, Prima Dragon prevailed by a head over the 1-5 favourite, Envious Hanover, in 1:52.1. Cinamony took home the show dough.

It was a career-best effort – and the first win of the season – for the four-year-old daughter of Dragon Again-Zacharysprimadonna. Phoenix Rising Stables LI of Ravena, Ohio owns the career winner of $66,167.
