Trainer Kelly Hoerdt landed a hat trick of victories on the nine-race card at Fraser Downs on Thursday night (April 6).
Hoerdt scored his first training win on the night with Juju Berry ($4 to win), who went pillar to post and won by a head in 1:56. In the following race, Ontheroadtotexas ($2.90) brushed to the lead late and demolished his competition to win by eight lengths in 1:53.2 and give Hoerdt his second win. Hoerdt capped the hat trick with a speed job delivered by Century Mach ($3.10) in 1:53.2.
With the three wins on Thursday night, Hoerdt has broke the tie for leading trainer at Fraser Downs and opened a two-win lead on Jim Marino. For the meet, Hoerdt has 33 victories while Marino – with just one win on the Thursday card – sits at 31. Those two are well ahead of Chris Lancaster in third on the standings with 14 wins.
