First round Spring Survivor Pacing Series winners Breakin The Law and Rockndream faced off in a $12,500 single second leg split on Saturday night at Meadowlands Racetrack with the former defeating the latter in a sprint for the wire

.

Rockndream and Ron Pierce established the early lead during a :28-second opening quarter, but settled for a pocket ride behind odds-on favourite Breakin The Law and David Miller as that one rolled up from fourth to take over command down the backstretch.

Breakin The Law led the field past the half in :58.1 and three-quarter in 1:26.3 before sprinting home in :26.2 with Rockdream left chasing him to the wire. Breakin The Law stopped the clock in 1:53 with Rockndream finishing one length behind after unleashing his own :26.2 final frame. Winter Night, driven by Corey Callahan, rallied wide and closed the fastest from the backfield to finish third.

Breakin The Law paid $2.40 to win as part of the favoured Ron Burke entry. The three-year-old Artiscape-Arls Troublemaker gelding is now six-for-eight on the year. He is owned by Burke Racing Stable LLC, Weaver Bruscemi LLC, JJK Stables LLC, and The Panhellenic Stb Corp.

The series is for three-year-old pacers that are non-winners of two extended pari-mutuel races or $30,000 lifetime as of March 1, 2012.
