Bestulldotanite was the best of the night in the $11,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred 2 Pace, winning the featured finale off a pocket trip on Wednesday (April 6) at The Raceway at the Western Fair District.
Driven by Robert Shepherd, Bestulldotanite gave way to the quick-leaving Zip Car (Garrett Rooney), a winner in last Wednesday's Preferred 3, and tracked that rival through panels of :27.2, :57.2 and 1:26.3 before out-sprinting her to the finish in a snappy 1:56.2 mile over the off track. The even-money favourite prevailed by half a length over Zip Car, while Mappos Moenhay (Alfie Carroll) rallied from the backfield to edge out a first up Katherine B (Ryan Holliday) in the race for third-place.
Robert Ellis trains the daughter of Geartogear-Naomi Seelster, who has won 26 times in her career, including three of her last four starts for JJS Stables of Grand Valley, Ont. The homebred mare has banked $142,485 in her career.
She is back in-to-go on Saturday at Flamboro Downs, drawing post five in the Preferred 2 Handicap.
