The second leg of the Spring Survivor Series for trotters continued on Friday night at the Meadowlands Racetrack with On The Podium grabbing the gold in the lone $12,500 division

.

Trained and driven by Ray Schnittker, On The Podium ($8.20) followed Markz Moose and David Miller past panels of :28, :58, and 1:27 before inheriting the lead when the pacesetter broke stride around the final turn and pulled up. On top by three lengths at the head of the lane, On The Podium was untouchable as he trotted home in :28.1 to win in 1:55.2. Following in behind, first leg winner Trouble and Andy Miller narrowed the winner's margin to just over a length. Favourite No Afraid and Ron Pierce rallied from way back to show.

The Donato Hanover-Olympics colt is owned by Schnittker, Paul Bordogna, Steven Arnold, and Jonathan Kurnit. The win followed up a third place showing in his 2012 debut last leg and was his second in 11 career starts. On The Podium, who ended his freshman year with a runner-up effort in the Equinox Late Closer Series final at Pocono Downs, has banked $48,854 to date.

The series is for three-year-old trotters that are non-winners of two extended pari-mutuel races or $30,000 lifetime as of March 1, 2012.
