It’s a giraffe, it’s a zebra...no, it’s a Standardbred racehorse!
Four-year-old pacing mare Mon Petite may have fooled a few fans at Pompano Park on February 10 as she showed off her fancy hair-do, shaved in a pattern resembling a giraffe, while posing for pictures after winning her season’s debut for driver Simon Allard and trainer Marty Fine.
The mare has made her way to Mohegan Sun Pocono and was recently profiled by local media.
The haircut comes courtesy Sophie Desroches, who says she wanted to do something different to make people interested in looking at the horse. With a passion for art, she found a blank canvas in the horses she loves and was inspired by images she saw on the Internet.
