Mystra Prevails In Mares Open At Dover

Mystra took the lead early and was never headed in the $26,000 Mares Open Handicap on the Tuesday, April 5 card at Dover Downs

Ron Pierce was at the controls of the six-year-old by Art Major-Pastrami Hanover in her first victory at the $26,000 Mares Open level. After consecutive second-place finishes racing off the pace, Pierce took the Trish Foulk-trained Mystra to the front and dictated the fractions en route to a 1:52 conquest. Allamerican Mobile (Ross Wolfenden) edged fast closing Higher And Higher (Daryl Bier) for second money.

It was her fourth win in 10 races this season for Foulk Stables. She had now won $56,125 this year and $287,093 lifetime.

Corey Callahan had three wins on the program and Ron Pierce had two as they continue their battle for the dash-win title. Callahan holds a 218-216 advantage.
