Hot Night sat a perfect pocket trip en route to her third consecutive victory during Saturday afternoon’s $12,000 Fillies & Mares Open Pace at Fraser Downs

.

Trainer and driver Brandon Campbell settled the six-year-old daughter of Northern Luck in second as B Bar Marilyn (Tim Brown) shot off the gate from the far outside and claimed the lead. B Bar Marilyn led the way to the first quarter in :26.3 before Admired Beauty (Bill Davis) moved first-up for the challenge. That one failed to clear the front and at the half in :55.3 Hot Night made her move. The 4-5 people’s choice pulled the pocket and brushed to command by three-quarters in 1:23.3. The red-hot mare then lowered her mark to 1:52.4 after pacing away by over eight lengths.

Judges Acenthehole (Jim Marino) came on for second while Modern Legacy (Keith Clark) rounded out the top three.

A winner of 19 races in her career, Hot Night has banked just over $245,000 for co-owners Jim Macphail and George Rogers of Calgary, Alta. In five ’09 starts, the bay has recorded three wins including the Princess of the Pacific final on March 14, one second and one third good for over $71,000.
