Bullet Point and Extracurricular took home bragging rights in this week’s Preferred events at Flamboro Downs, but they took different approaches to finding their way to victory lane in their respective tilts.

Bullet Point used ‘come and get me’ tactics for driver Billy Davis, Jr. in the $11,000 Fillies & mares Preferred 2 & 3 Handicap. The eight-year-old daughter of Mcardle-Drawing Card was hustled to the lead from Post 8 and she carved out fractions of :27.3, :56.4 and 1:25.4 before using a :29.4 closing panel to seal the deal in 1:55.3. She won by three-quarters of a length over Foolish Mind, with Machleen third.

Trainer Blake MacIntosh co-owns the classy distaffer with Stu McIntosh of Essex, Ontario. It was the second straight tally and the 39th to date for the career winner of $608,464.

Just one race later it was Extracurricular using an off-the-pace approach to capture top spot in the $11,000 Preferred 2 Handicap for trotters. J.R. Plante got away sixth with the veteran before tipping out and catching cover on the way to the three-quarter pole. Cimeronken led the group through intervals of :27.3, :58.1 and 1:27.1, but he couldn’t go the distance. Extracurricular used a :28.3 kicker to rally for the win over Cimeronken, who came up three-quarters of a length short. Money Maven took home third prize. Time for the mile was 1:56.3.

Sent off at odds of 6-1, the nine-year-old son of Revenue S-Outside Interest won for the third time this season for trainer Stephane Larocque. Darren Mahoney owns the 20-time winner who pushed his lifetime cash stash over $200,000 with the victory.
