Ontario Horse Racing's John Snobelen has issued a statement in response to MPP Randy Pettapiece's request for clarification on breeder support from Premier Kathleen Wynne.

Pettapiece issued his open letter late Tuesday seeking clarification regarding funding support programs for Standardbred breeders.‎ On behalf of the Standardbred Breeders of Ontario Association, Pettapiece questioned whether there is an enhanced breeders program for Standardbred breeders like those already finalized with the Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society and the Quarter Racing Owners of Ontario Inc. or whether Standardbred breeders have been excluded due to a pending lawsuit.

“Standardbred breeders enjoy the support of government through the Partnership Plan including HIP funding," said Snobelen when reached for comment by Trot Insider on Wednesday afternoon. "We are making every effort to not interfere with the judicial process. The next phase of the partnership plan includes industry self-governance including governance of breeder support programs.”

WE THE PEOPLE who happen to race horses in Ontario ask many questions that are never answered with a straight reply! As an industry we deal with a lot of misery at times to do with the well being of our noble horses. Breeders, trainers and vets often give us reports we never want to hear! But at least it is told truthfully so we can deal with the report in the interest of the horse first and the business next. Give me the truth without the ongoing bafflegab and my decisions will be much easier going forward! I won*t hold my breath!

What does that mean and why bother asking we will never get a clear answer.
