It turned out to be a productive night at the office for trainer Sebastien Giroux on Thursday evening at Rideau Carleton Raceway, as the high percentage conditioner sent out three winners on the 15-race program.

Giroux, who teamed up with driver John MacDonald for all three of the victories, got the ball rolling with trotter C R Image in Race 6. The veteran mare rallied to a three-length score in 2:01.2.

MacDonald and Giroux made a round trip to the winner’s circle thanks to a 1:54.2 score in Race 7 with pacer OK Mnm. The five-year-old son of Omar Khayam led through fractions of :27.3, :57.2 and 1:25.1 before finishing off his foes with a :29.1 final frame.

Speedy Samadhi gave Giroux the training triple when he rolled to a 2:00.2 triumph in Race 11. MacDonald, who finished the evening with five victories, took over command shortly past the quarter pole and didn’t look back from that point on with the nine-year-old son of Pine Chip.

Giroux enjoyed a career year in 2009 sending out 135 winners and hauling in more than $681,000 in purse earnings.
