Billings Series Heads To Pocono Downs

The 28th season of the C.K.G. Billings Amateur Driving Series will get underway this Saturday at Pocono Downs with two "wild card" trots set to go to post as non-wagering events.

Headlining the two events is last years overall points champion, Steve "You're Never Too" Oldford, who'll handle Pierre Lavec when the trotter starts from post position five in the first contest.

Enjoy My Win with Peter "the President" Gerry driving from post six appears to be the one to beat in that division though Rob "Rapid Rail" Krivelin's old warhorse, Unitas, and John "Night Train" Regina's, Play Time, also come into the event with victories thus far this year.

Other amateurs who'll be competing in that split include: Eric "the Driving Fireman" Taddeo, Simeon "Hot Rod" Hunsdon, and Dale "the Big Boss" Zahn.

In the second division Terry "the Dairy Queen" Donnelly and her veteran trotter, Jay A. Novak, will be looking to win a race on the first Billings card of the 2009 season.

Last year the combo registered the first Billings triumph of the 2008 campaign at Monticello Raceway and that Jay A Novak has drawn the pole position on Saturday "the Dairy Queen" may again be the one to beat in what appears to be the best of the two trots offered.

However, Donnelly is not the only lady who'll be participating in the Billings Trots at the Downs that afternoon. New member, Jennifer "Cool Character" Lappe, will be making her first Billings appearance in that split when she handles BWT Everytime from post two.

In that contest the gals will have to contend with the likes of Dave "Yes It's True" Offenberg, Ken "the Virginia Squire" Weckstein, Bob "the Head-Hunter" Hechkoff, Scott "the Driving Doctor" Woogen, and "Joltin' Joe" Pennacchio.
