It was a milestone evening for veteran pacer KJ Owen, who notched the 50th win of his career at Flamboro Downs on Thursday, April 3.

Lining up on the rail in Race 5, the 11-year-old gelding delivered a determined performance to hit the half-century mark. Sent off at generous odds of 2-1, driver Austin Sorrie settled him into the three-hole early, pulled first-over past the half, and never looked back. KJ Owen dug in gamely down the lane to win by 1-1/4 lengths in 1:54.2. Chief Of Staff (Nicholas Steward) was second and Pick A Genre (Jason Ryan) rounded out the top three.

.A gelded son of Roll With Joe out of Winsmith Jess, KJ Owen is trained by Mitchell Tierney of Guelph, Ont., who co-owns the pacer with Lynn Cameron of Saint John, N.B. This victory marked his fourth of the season, bringing his seasonal earnings to $19,404 and pushing his career bankroll to $290,157.
