Using a powerful three-wide push through the final five-sixteenths, Scene A Magician ($5.70) earned his second Preferred 3 win of the year at The Raceway at Western Fair District, capturing the Wednesday night (April 3) feature in 2:01.

Greg Dustin wanted no part of a contested early pace, nestling Scene A Magician behind a trio of leavers fronted by 8-5 favourite All Out Henry (Scott Young) well before a quick :28.2 opening quarter before angling off the pegs just beyond a :59.2 half. As the second circuit began, Scene A Magician found himself behind stagnant cover and swung three-wide around Summit City Nate (J Harris) with just under three-eighths of the one-mile race remaining. The five-year-old Daylon Magician gelding found his best stride midway up the backstretch and advanced to engage All Out Henry past three-quarters in 1:29.4.

Midway around the final turn, Scene A Magician struck the front, and he extended his lead in the stretch to 1-1/4 lengths while kept to task to the winning post. All Out Henry was a clear second, 5-1/4 lengths in advance of Avuncular (Alfie Carroll), who toiled in the pocket through the final quarter.

Jennifer Pinkerton owns and trains Scene A Magician, now a 10-time winner.
