Longshot lovers had to be pleased with the outcome in Saturday’s featured ninth race at Northlands Park when GTs Lizzy and driver Bill Tainsh, Jr. rallied

from out of the clouds to post a 13-1 upset in the $12,000 affair.

GTs Lizzy got away seventh in the early going while Starring Role was in the role of pacesetter. She led the field through fractions of :28, :57.4 and 1:27 before dealing with the hard-closing GTs Lizzy, who was third over on the rim for the final half of the mile.

A :28.3 final frame was just enough for GTs Lizzy to post the win by three-quarters of a length in a sharp clocking of 1:56.3. Starring Role held on bravely for the runner-up award and third prize went to Second Fancy.

Co-owner Gerald McGinn trains the four-year-old daughter of Freedoms Pass for partners Terry and Marjorie McGinn of Stony Plain, AB. The free-legged campaigner, who is 2-for-6 to start the 2010 season, has stashed away more than $55,000 to date.
