Ripped And Ready was ready, willing and able the Thursday evening feature – the $10,500 Preferred Handicap Trot - at Rideau Carleton Raceway even though it was his first start since Boxing Day. Despite the long layoff, there was clearly no rust on the shoes of Ripped And Ready who rolled to a 1:57.3 triumph in the main event on the 10-race card. Pascal Berube was parked past an opening quarter clocked in :28 with Ripped And Ready, but shortly after the tandem brushed their way to the lead. Once in charge of the speed they sailed through middle splits of :58.4 and 1:28.1 before using a :29.2 closing panel to seal the deal. It was two lengths back to the runner-up, Crossfit, and third-place finisher, The Magic Of Life. Thierry Vandenplas trains the five-year-old son of Muscle Mass-Cumin First for Dr. Ruth Irving of Russell, ON. The 13-time winner pushed his lifetime earnings over $160,000 with the win.
