Bugger Bruiser, who is rated at odds of 16-1 in Trot Magazine’s 2014 Pepsi North America Cup Spring Book, made his seasonal charted debut during the Monday morning qualifying session at Mohawk Racetrack.

Bugger Bruiser, in rein to driver Anthony MacDonald for trainer Carmen Auciello, lined up in Post 2 during Race 6, which was the final dash of the morning’s qualifying session.

The gelded son of Believeinbruiser was the fastest off the gate and was much the best in the race. The career winner of five of 11 starts and $226,730 in purses cut the fractions in :29.1, :58.2 and 1:26.3 and cruised home with a 28-second final quarter.

Bugger Bruiser’s win time was 1:54.3 and he won by more than 11 lengths.

There was another ‘Cup’ eligible in action, as the combination of MacDonald and Auciello had previously hooked up in Race 3 with another Believeinbruiser gelding, Waco Bruiser.

Waco Bruiser, who has been assessed at odds of 80-1 in Trot’s Spring Book, left from the rail and took a two-hole trip through the mile. Major Homer, driven by Jody Jamieson for Carmen Auciello, was first the wire and stopped the clock in 1:55.1. Waco Bruiser finished second, beaten four and a half lengths, and was individually timed in 1:56.
