British pacing mare Laneside Lexus returned to the winner's circle at Woodbine Racetrack on Friday night after a dominant score in the $42,000 Fillies & Mares Open Pace
.
A winner in her first four races in Canada, Laneside Lexus made a break and hit the board twice in her most recent starts. But on Friday night the eight-year-old Hopping High-Goldilocks mare took control of the field from post six and cruised past fractions of :26.4, :54.4 and 1:23.1 en route to a three length victory in 1:51.1 with Billy Davis Jr. in tow. The rest of the field was gapped out early on with Bullet Point (Jody Jamieson) emerging from the pocket to finish second and favourite Monkey On My Wheel (Randy Waples) finishing third off a three-hole trip.
The Corey Johnson trainee paid $4.60 to win as the 6-5 second choice. Laneside Lexus notched her 28th career win and pushed her bankroll to $140,849 for owner Neville Bainbridge of Barnard Castle, England.
