Sand Wyndham has made six starts in Western Fair Raceway’s top class for trotters so far this year and has now won three and finished second in two others

.

In today’s $14,800 feature Connected Yankee grabbed early control for Paul MacKenzie and led the field of trotters through fractions of :28, :58 and 1:27.3. Sand Wyndham and Tom Strauss received a second over trip, sitting in fourth most of the mile, and wore down the leader in the stretch to win in 1:58.3.

Twin B Rawley, the winner of this class last week, rallied from sixth at the top of the stretch to finish second while Connected Yankee held for third.

Owned by Brad Grant of Milton, Ontario and trained by Ben Wallace, Sand Wyndham was recording his fourth win in 12 starts this year. The five-year-old son of Pegasus Spur has $37,730 earned to date this year and $213,150 lifetime.

A step down in class to the $11,000 Preferred-2 class proved the winning ticket for Monster In Law as he rolled to a 1:55 score to defeat Shadywood Baron and Chevron Hanover. Alfie Carroll was up behind the winner, a five-year-old gelding by Northern Luck owned by trainer Don Beatson, Granton, Ken Beatson, Toronto and Sandra and Ralph Pitt of Cargill, Ontario.
