Driver Garrett Rooney and Scene A Magician converted a pocket ride into a victory in the $13,000 Preferred Trot on Tuesday night (April 25) at The Raceway at Western Fair District.
Leaving from post four, Scene A Magician pushed off the wings with Power And Grace firing to his outside. Scene A Magician settled for the pocket to a :28.4 first quarter and stayed put behind 3-2 favourite Power And Grace through a :59.4 half. Reign Of Honor attempted a first-over push from midfield on the second circuit, but only made slight gains on Power And Grace to three-quarters in 1:28.3. Scene A Magician remained the main threat on the tempo-setter’s back spinning off the corner, and the Jennifer Pinkerton trainee popped out and overpowered Power And Grace to win by a head in 1:57.4. Reign Of Honor settled for third and O Narutac Perfetto took fourth.
Jennifer Pinkerton owns Scene A Magician, a nine-year-old gelding by Daylon Magician. The trotter won his 31st race from 139 starts and has now banked $371,751. He paid $6.10 to win.
