The two three-year-old male Ontario Sires Stakes Super Final winners from 2025, Crack Shot and P L Spencer showed returns to that stakes-winning form during the session of qualifiers on Friday, April 24 at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

Preparing for returns to the racing wars as four-year-olds, Crack Shot and P L Spencer clocked the fastest times on their respective gaits during Friday's 12-dash session.  Horses were hampered by a headwind in the backstretch but bolstered by that same breeze heading for home.

The 2025 O'Brien Award winner as Canada's Three-Year-Old Pacing Colt of the Year, Crack Shot uncorked a 1:52.4 mile on Friday in his second seasonal appearance. Driver Doug McNair pointed the son of Bettors Delight - Beautyonthebeach to the top from post four and made every call a winning one from there. After fractions of :27.4, :57.4 and 1:27.1, Crack Shot sizzled home in :25.3 — the fastest final panel he's recorded — for the 1:52.4 score. Larceny finished second, 6-1/2 lengths in arrears for driver Jonathan Drury, with Silky Choice (Jody Jamieson) rounding out the top trio.

Crack Shot sports a mark of 1:48.2 and earnings of $744,092 for trainer/co-owner Gregg McNair and co-owners Dale Hunter of London, Frank Brundle of East Garafraxa and George Kerr of Gowanstown, Ont. The four-year-old horse has compiled a record of 11-5-1 from 24 starts in his two seasons of competition, sporting a mark of 1:48.2 with $744,092 in purse earnings.

Making his first appearance since the OSS Super Finals, P L Spencer returned victoriously for his connections with the fastest trotting mile of the morning — a 1:54.4 score.

With regular pilot Bob McClure aboard, P L Spencer scooted to the front from post three in his 2026 debut and did not relent control. After a :28 opener, P L Spencer pushed through panels of :57.4 and 1:26.3 before closing in :28.1 to best Manoah (Travis Henry) by three parts of a length.  Masstercraft (Drury) was next across the wire.

After an abbreviated rookie season with just four starts,  P L Spencer posted a summary of 10-4-0 in 16 sophomore appearances for trainer / co-owner Steve Bossence and  co-owners Richard Thompson of London, Derek Reid of Etobicoke, Ont. and ECS Racing LLC of Rockford, Mich. An O'Brien Award finalist in 2025, the son of Resolve - P L Indyanaca banked $528,081 of his $537,681 career bankroll during that stellar sophomore campaign.
