Make it six-in-a-row and counting for Odds On Amethyst thanks to his gutsy, first-over score in Monday’s $34,000 Preferred Trot at Mohawk Racetrack.
Finish Line shot to the front in the Monday evening feature and stole away with soft fractions of :27.1 and :57.1. Odds On Amethyst got away sixth for trainer/driver Pat Hudon, but he was on the move first-over as the field entered the backstretch.
Odds On Amethyst put heavy pressure on Finish Line around the final turn before wrestling away the lead from that foe at the three-quarter pole in 1:25.4. A :27.2 closing panel – with the plugs still in – helped propel Odds On Amethyst to the 1:53.1 decision over Musical Rhythm and Major Athens.
Hudon shares ownership on the six-year-old son of Muscle Hill-Mystical Sunshine with partners William Cripps, Charles Gazzola and Adam Kean. The victory was the seventh of the season in 13 tries for the gelding who is now a 22-time winner to date. He’s banked more than $360,000 in his career.
