Ontario-sired Major Herbie ($7.40) and driver Ross Wolfenden scored a mild upset in the featured $18,000 Open Trot Wednesday at Harrington Raceway in 1:57.
The five-year-old Heres Come Herbie ridgling sat behind tempo-setting favourite Allmar Surprise throughout before surging by that rival near the top of the stretch and drawing clear of the field for an open length win over late-charging Sand Top Gun and Awsome Valley.
The win was the fourth of the year for Major Herbie, who is owned by trainer Josh Green, David Rovine Stable LLC, Vip Internet Stable LLC, and Seafood Delight Stable.
Driver Victor Kirby had a stellar day after going one-for-one at Harrah’s Philadelphia during the day and then piloting three winners at Harrington, while conditioning another to victory in trotter Deliver Delovin in race 10.
