.

Matheson earned his first win in Race 2 when 35-1 Elm Grove Emery, a three-year-old son of Largo, converted from the pocket to break his maiden in 2:05.4 by a nose over pacesetter and favourite Tasteful Benka (Marc Campbell). The popular Mighty And Strong, a six-year-old son of Astreos, went the distance in the eighth race, winning by nearly three lengths in 2:00.3 for Matheson. Finally, eight-year-old Sounding, by Hunterstown, rallied from off the pace to score by a length in 2:00.2 in the afternoon’s finale.

After a triumphant 2010 debut three and a half months ago, Outlawpositivcharg returned to the half-miler and overcame a Post 7 start to win the feature pace in 1:58. He led every step of the way carving out stations of :29.1, 1:00.4 and 1:29.4. Mchales Gravy (Mark Bradley) finished over three lengths behind in second and Pans O Silver (Brodie MacPhee) was third.
