
In the final race on the Tuesday, April 22 card at MGM Northfield Park, driver Greg Grismore secured his 8,000th career driving victory aboard Disgruntled Carl.
Leaving from post three as the even-money choice in the field of conditioned trotters, Grismore hustled Disgruntled Carl to the engine to cut the quarter in :28.1. Grismore tapped the brakes to the half in :58.3 before being challenged by Sierras Spirit, who went first-over from third at three-quarters in 1:27.4. Disgruntled Carl shook off the challenger on the final turn, allowing Grismore to coast to his milestone victory aboard the Sam Schillaci trainee by 1-1/4 lengths on the wire in 1:58.1.
For his career, the Ohio native has driven over 57,000 races, racking up career earnings of $58.7 million. Grismore enjoyed a career year in driving wins in 2004 when he steered 615 winners and a personal best in earnings in 2007 with $5.8 million earned.
