Major Leaguer took the featured $7,500 pace at Vernon Downs on Saturday (April 22).
Bluesville blasted out of the gate and went straight to the front. Major Leaguer took over just before hitting the first quarter first in :27. He used a :29.3 second quarter to be first to the half in :56.3. The gelding glided to three-quarters in 1:25.2. As they made the turn for home, Bluesville popped the pocket and went all out after the leader, but Major Leaguer had plenty in the tank and cruised home in 1:54.2. Bluesville had to settle for second as Maximum Ideal finished third best.
Major Leaguer is a nine-year-old gelding by Art Major. He is owned by driver Jimmy Whittemore and trained by Marissa Chadbourne. The victory was his first of the season in three starts and his 39th lifetime. He paid $2.30 to win.
Truman Gale had a training-driving double on the night. Dylan Huckabone-Miller and Steeven Genois each drove two winners on the card. Dustin Miller had a training double.
Live harness racing returns on Friday, April 28 at 4 p.m. (EDT).
